“if they wanted to they would”
mmm. let’s talk. read to the end.
do you know how many people do things they don’t wanna do? do you know how many people DONT do things they want to do? out of fear, out of shame, out of guilt, out of mental or physical inability.
how many times have you wanted to do something but insecurities, fears, inability to communicate or operate in a healthy way… how many times have those things stopped you? a LOT. for some, everyday.
how many times have you been so depressed or anxious you can’t text anyone bc you feel shame about doing so or you don’t have the words? how many times has lack of resources prevented you from something you want to do?
some people are not always able and the truth is, many people struggle with the very things we often use this saying for. if they wanted to, they would text. ya and when they want to, they will. if it’s not in a certain period of time that you’d like? easy communication.
let’s work on communicating our needs instead of internalizing what they aren’t doing for our expectations. let’s work on setting standards & sticking to them. instead of asking others to rise to the occasion, let’s get ppl who are already at the venue.
let’s work on saying what we want and need. let’s work on giving people the opportunity to say or show what they can and cannot do.
let’s work on aligning with people that have the capacity for us instead of getting mad at those who don’t.
let’s work on asking instead of assuming. instead of assuming they would, ask them why they won’t. let’s work on trusting in what they say until proven otherwise. let’s work on discernment & boundaries. let’s work on recognizing people are not possessions,
that we do not “have” anyone. that no one is ours and that we are no ones. let’s let go of possessiveness. let’s work on patience
bc there are many times when you want to but the timing has to be right, and the patience has to be had.
i know we like to think the timing is always right but maybe the timing is telling you to have patience. maybe it’s time to wait. maybe it’s time to speak up. the time is right includes patience, not just the anxious and impulsive decisions we wish to make.
