This is the slippery path to us becoming cyborgs. If we continue to lose emotional intelligence, it will make it a lot easier to lose emotions altogether. Maybe technology will offer us a new package that’s easy to use, and replaces the value emotions have for us now. Sort of like how having numbers saved on your phone replaces the need to remember them.
Eventually a digital recording of everything you see will prove to be superior to memories.
A microchip that regulates dopamine and serotonin will remove people from the roller coaster ride of depression. We will be told that our animal reward systems that have inspired so many songs, books, and movies have ultimately proved to be too difficult to manage.
It’s far easier to allow a digital program to insure constant peace.
What if the aliens, with their spindly bodies, lack of sex organs and giant heads are just us in the future?
We might not even really be seeing them, we might just instinctively know that’s where all this shit is heading.
